Abstract

We have conducted fieldwork in Chengdu, Sifang and its suburb to examine how people dealt with psychological care, social welfare issues, future recovery plan, commemoration of the Wenchuari earthquake, and volunteer activities for disaster relief. Psychological care and volunteer activities receive special attention here and are examined by socio-scientific theoretical framework. Practical suggestions for future revitalization are also provided, according to our own experiences in Kobe.
